Kognitive Dissonanz
Kognitive Dissonanz bezeichnet in der Sozialpsychologie einen als unangenehm empfundenen Gefühlszustand, der dadurch entsteht, dass mehrere Kognitionen – Wahrnehmungen, Gedanken, Meinungen, Einstellungen, Wünsche oder Absichten – nicht miteinander vereinbar sind. Diese ursprüngliche Definition wurde inzwischen dahingehend verfeinert, dass kognitive Dissonanz durch die Unvereinbarkeit von Kognitionen und der Wahrnehmung eigener Handlungen entsteht.
Bei der Dissonanzauflösung unterscheidet man zwischen direkten und indirekten Strategien. Direkte Strategien beziehen sich auf die Auflösung der für die Dissonanz verantwortlichen Diskrepanz zwischen Verhalten und Einstellung, d. h. Personen verändern ihr Verhalten, um es mit ihren Einstellungen in Einklang zu bringen, oder verändern ihre Einstellung bezüglich ihres Verhaltens.
